David Lea Indigenous Scholarship

David Lea was a Professor of Geography at UNE from 1974-1991, having formerly been Professor of Geography at the University of Papua New Guinea. He left UNE to become Executive Director of the North Australia Research Unit until 1994 when he retired. At this time UNE awarded Professor Lea the title of Emeritus Professor. Professor Lea was a great humanitarian who was keenly interested in Indigenous communities.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be:
Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander;
Open to applicants aged 25 years and older;
Open to continuing UNE students in their FINAL or Honours year of an undergraduate degree;
Academic requirement;
An average GPA of 5.0 in their course to date is required.
