The ATSI Scholarship for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
ACAP’s ATSI Scholarships aim to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from low socio-economic backgrounds and regional, rural and remote areas, with costs associated with higher education. The ATSI Scholarship is awarded for study in any of the school’s qualifications and degrees. Membership of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and leadership and significant contribution to the ATSI community are the main criteria for this scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
Be Australian citizens permanent residents or holders of a humanitarian visa;
Be enrolling in the Bachelor of Counselling, Bachelor of Counselling (Coaching) or Bachelor of Applied Social Science degrees;
Be over 18 years of age.
The main criteria for this scholarship is having demonstrated commitment to and involvement in community development activities.
Preference may be given to students who have some experience in the discipline area.
How to Apply
Applicants for the ATSI Scholarship will need to submit the following:
An application letter outlining reasons for applying for the scholarship;
Strong statement of commitment to completing the qualification & intention regarding use of the qualification. Please provide documentation such as referee reports to support this commitment;
Demonstrated leadership and/or significant contribution to the ATSI community;
A resume;
The successful recipient will need to commence their studies within 6 months of being granted the Scholarship and studies must be completed within 8 years.
Further Information
ACAP will award each scholarship. The selection will be made on the basis of the application and a telephone interview. The applicant needs to be capable and committed to taking up the scholarship.
The scholarship committee will seek a reference from academic teachers who have taught the applicant in the preceding term (if already enrolled).
The scholarship is for course fees only. The successful scholarship student will need to pay any other administrative penalty fees that may arise.
Textbooks and readings for the course are not included in the scholarship.
The scholarship is non-transferable and remains available to be taken up for 6 months after the offer date.
