Aurora scholar wins prestigious scholarship

Congratulations to Nyiyaparli woman Karri Walker who last month was awarded the General Sir John Monash Foundation Scholarship.

Karri recently took part in the 2022 Aurora Study Tour to the United Kingdom and is a senior lawyer at the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria.

John Monash Scholarships are awarded to scholars who possess significant leadership potential, are outstanding in their chosen fields and aspire to make the world a better place.

Karri was selected for her outstanding commitment to justice and self-determination of First Peoples.

An inspiration to other First Nations students, Karri is currently working on securing ground-breaking reform through the nation’s first Treaty process and will be pursuing a Master of Laws at Columbia University as a John Monash Scholar.
