2023 Google Future Leaders in Tech Scholarship Recipient Announcement
Aurora and Google are thrilled to announce the recipients of the 2023 Google Future Leaders in Tech Scholarship.
This is the second cohort of Google Scholars. The scholarships support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students while studying for their undergraduate or Masters degrees in a technology-related discipline. Each student receives $10,000 grant to support their studies, which may be used for university fees, textbooks, technology, travel and accommodation expenses, as well as any other academic-related costs.
The 2023 scholarship recipients are Wiradjuri woman Bianca Ingles, Worimi man Harrison Peters and Nyikina man Jarod Roff. Further information about the scholarship recipients is as follows:
Wiradjuri woman Bianca Ingles from Queanbeyan, NSW. Bianca is currently in her final year of study completing a double degree consisting of a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Information Technology at Australian National University, Canberra. Bianca currently volunteers as a mentor in the CSIRO’s Young Indigenous Women’s STEM Academy and aims to work in computing and cyber security. She hopes to further her education in the future by completing a Masters, and hopefully a PhD.
Worimi man Harrison Peters from Camperdown, NSW. Harrison recently completed a Bachelor of Science (Advanced) at the University of Sydney and has this year commenced Master of Mathematical Sciences. Harrison has worked as a university mentor, and tutor for Indigenous students and last year completed work experience at Google, where he would ultimately like to start his career.
Nyikina man Jarod Roff from Waikiki, WA. Jared is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Computer Science at Edith Cowan University in Perth. Jarod is an active member of university life, working as an ambassador and mentor to introduce high school students into the tech field. Jarod aspires to become an independent game developer following the completion of his studies.
