Intern Spotlight: Ashleigh Petkovic

Intern Spotlight: Ashleigh Petkovic

In 2025, Ashleigh Petkovic undertook an internship with Wet Tropics Management Authority (WTMA) in Cairns, Queensland. WTMA is an organisation working to protect, conserve, present and rehabilitate the Wet Tropics of Queensland World Heritage Area.

Following her internship, Ashleigh shared:

“WTMA is a very positive and culturally safe environment. I always felt looked after, celebrated and challenged. I got to be a part of many field days and work with local restoration groups. I learnt so much about rainforest ecosystems, wildlife and plant diversity. A highlight of mine would definitely be planting baby trees with the Noongyanbudda Ngadjon rangers in the Tablelands. I will definitely be bringing a lot of positive memories and valuable skills back home with me.”

Congratulations, Ashleigh, for completing your internship!
