RMIT Indigenous Accommodation Scholarship

If you are moving to Melbourne from interstate or regional Victoria and can provide evidence that you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, this scholarship can provide assistance towards your accommodation in Melbourne for the duration of your program.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:
  • be an Australian citizen;
  • be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander;
  • register with RMIT’s Ngarara Willim Centre and provide documentation confirming that you are an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander by the scholarship application due date;
  • be from an interstate or rural/regional area and moving/moved to Melbourne to study at RMIT in the applicable semester;
  • have not previously commenced or completed a program at the same level of study or higher;
  • be enrolling in the applicable semester in a certificate IV, diploma, undergraduate degree or postgraduate degree by coursework at RMIT and;
  • be able to demonstrate circumstance/s in which impact your ability to study, such as:
    • receiving a government tested low income benefit or having a Centrelink Health Care Card;
    • living with a disability, long-term medical condition or identify as neurodivergent;
    • experiencing personal/family/social difficulties;
    • have previously/are currently living in foster/kinship care or are a ward of the state and/or;
    • be from an under-represented background such as completed secondary school at a School Network Access Program School. 

      In addition to the above:

  • to be considered for the full value of the scholarship per annum, you must demonstrate financial disadvantage in your scholarship application such as showing documentation that you receive a Government tested low income benefit or have a Centrelink Health Care Card;
  • you must not be enrolling in an apprenticeship or traineeship program.

How to Apply

Depending on your circumstances, you will need to provide different types of evidence and material to support your scholarship application. Applications without supporting documents will not be considered.
 
You will need to confirm your Indigenous eligibility with RMIT’s Ngarara William Centre prior to the application close date.
