Workplace giving

Workplace giving is a simple and easy way for you to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students on their education journey by donating directly from your pay. Regular donations, large or small, are very impactful at Aurora as we work with Indigenous students and communities to build the Indigenous leaders of the future. Individuals contribute a small portion of their pre-tax salary to Aurora and receive the tax benefits immediately, no need to wait until the end of the financial year. It is also a win for employers as Workplace Giving improves staff engagement, retention and productivity while also strengthening your organisation’s reputation and CSR.

Employers set up a Workplace Giving Program.

Employees sign up and start having donations deducted from their pre-tax pay.

Aurora communicates the impact of your donations via our newsletter and stories of impact.

Employees receive details of their donations as part of the PAYG summary, reducing their overall applicable tax.  

How it works

For Employers

1. Third-party platform

Using an online platform is an easy way for you and your employees to donate to Aurora. There are various third-party online platforms that support Workplace Giving, such as Good2Give, Goodcompany and Benevity. You will find set up instructions on their website and they provide various guides and resources to support your Workplace Giving Program. The use of a third-party platform does incur a fee which means that a proportion of your donation will not be given to Aurora. Your employees may also be able to donate to other charities other than Aurora. If you wish to maximse the impact of your donation, we recommend setting up Workplace Giving via bank transfer.  

2. Bank Transfer

Setting up your Workplace Giving program internally via regular bank transfers means you don’t have to worry about fees going to third-party platforms. Employees decide to support Aurora, donations are deducted from their pre-tax pay and then paid to Aurora by bank transfer. This usually coincides with your organisation’s pay cycle. This process is simple and supported by all current payroll or accounting software. Please contact Aurora for further details on getting a Workplace Giving Program started.

If you are an employee who would like to donate to Aurora via Workplace Giving, it’s best to check with your HR or Finance team if there is an existing system in place.
