Portia Carney

Portia is a proud Darumbal and Bundjalung woman. She was born in Auburn, but grew up on the Central Coast, Darkinjung land, where she grew her love for beaches and swimming. Portia is a dedicated advocate for Indigenous education, driven by her passion for contributing to Closing the Gap. Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts and Primary Education at Macquarie University, she is deeply committed to empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. With experience in supporting students academically, promoting their well-being, and celebrating their rich culture, Portia creates inclusive learning environments that foster pride, identity, and academic success. Through her unwavering dedication, she is actively working towards a future where all students have equitable opportunities and the tools to thrive.
