End of Year Appeal

Right now, Aurora’s students, interns and scholars are boldly creating the change they want to see in the world, pursuing their aspirations and achieving success in education systems that were not built with their unique value or success in mind.

Alongside them, Aurora is boldly pushing forward also.  

In 2023, Aurora awarded seven scholarships to seven outstanding Indigenous students. One of those students is Gija woman from the Kimberley, Naarah Barnes. Thanks to her enormous talent and Aurora’s Roberta Sykes Scholarship, Naarah is currently studying a Masters of Musical Theatre at the Royal Academy of Music in London.

Naarah, in her own words: “I truly would not be here without Aurora and feel so grateful for every dollar that has been donated towards me making this dream a reality. Without Aurora, I would’ve had to decline a position at the Academy that I tried three times to get into.” She is passionate about changing the entertainment industry and increasing Indigenous representation in the creative industries: “The idea that you can’t be what you can’t see drives me to push for a better tomorrow… Taking my next steps in studying internationally is not just for me, but an opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representation itself.”

Financial barriers can put an end to many students’ aspirations of post-graduate study. With your donation, Aurora will be able to award even more scholarships to Indigenous scholars like Naarah.
