Gadigal Accommodation Scholarship

This scholarship subsidises rent at available University owned student accommodation. 

The value of this scholarship varies each year. It is paid directly to the accommodation provider to reduce weekly rental payments. The award is not redeemable as a cash payment.

The number of scholarships offered will vary each year depending on funding. The scholarship only covers students in their first year of study. This scholarship is subsidy only and successful students are still required to make a contribution to their accommodation fees.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this Scholarship, you must:

  • commencing students must be going to apply for admission, applied for admission or have a conditional or unconditional offer of admission or be currently enrolled on a full-time basis at the University of Sydney;
  • continuing students must have completed their first full year of study at the University of Sydney and continue studying full-time. They must have received the Gadigal Accommodation Scholarship in the current year and have paid the required the $50 per week since getting the scholarship unless there are extenuating circumstances. They also need to have maintained a satisfactory academic milestone (SAM) of at least 50 in the current year, with allowances for an extenuating circumstances;
  • be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent as defined in the University of Sydney’s Confirmation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Identity Policy 2015 and;
  • be planning to live on campus at a University owned accommodation (continuing or commencing) or residential college (only for commencing).
