Netflix First Nations Scholarship
Netflix First Nations Scholarships are awarded on the basis of creative excellence. The scholarships are intended to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students with the full cost of course fees, plus contribution toward travel, accommodation and living expenses.
AFTRS encourages and welcomes First Nations applicants with intersectional backgrounds, including but not limited to gender identity, people with a disability or people of the LGBTQIA+ community. The Scholarships are made available via the Netflix Indigenous Scholarship Fund.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for assistance, applicants must address the following criteria:
Identify and be accepted by their community as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person;
Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident;
Identify and be accepted by their community as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person;
Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident;
Be enrolled in the Master of Arts: Screen (2 years full time or) Masters of Arts: Screen Business (1 year full time);
Show significant creative excellence and that you would be likely to complete the course;
Demonstrate the opportunity this scholarship would give you and/or your community

How to apply:
Complete online ONLINE application form;
You must give AFTRS:
– a copy of Confirmation of Aboriginality;
– a personal statement (max. 4000 characters or max 3. minute long video) addressing:
i) why you want to tell stories, ii) the basis of the creative work that you have submitted and what your contribution was to that work, iii) the opportunity this scholarship would give you and/or your community and iv) demonstrate a compelling artistic voice with a deep connection to community and First Nations storytelling;
– provide one sample of your work for assessment that demonstrates your creative excellence and distinctive storytelling;
– a letter of support from a screen or broadcast industry stakeholder or an experienced screen or broadcast practitioner (should not be a member of immediate family).
