Bob Hawke Aboriginal Teacher Scholarships
The Western Australian Department of Education is offering 2 Bob Hawke Aboriginal Teacher Scholarships each year to assist prospective Aboriginal secondary teachers to complete a teaching qualification and commence their career in a public school.
Scholarships are valued at up to $30 000 if the recipient is studying a Bachelor of Education (Secondary), and up to $16 000 if they are completing the Master of Teaching (Secondary).

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
– identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and reside in WA;
– not already be in receipt of a tertiary scholarship or other financial assistance for the purposes of study from the DoE;
– confirm that you express an interest in working as a secondary teacher in a WA public school, upon completing the teaching qualification;
– not already be a qualified secondary teacher and;
– confirm and provide proof you either:
– intend to enrol in an accredited secondary teaching qualification at a recognised Australian tertiary institution by the closure of the upcoming year’s enrolments
or
– are enrolled in an accredited secondary teaching qualification at a recognised Australian tertiary institution, and have completed no more than one year of full-time study towards that qualification.

Collate the selection criteria written response, required supporting documents and compare with the checklist in Section G in the application form to ensure you have all the required documents.
