First Nations Social and Emotional Wellbeing Scholarship

The Scholarship is a full two year Master of Public Health (Extension) scholarship offered to outstanding Indigenous candidates to be trained to conduct research under the supervision of experienced academics affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health at UNSW.

All students will be provided with training in First Nations specific research methodology ensuring that students are both supported and provided with the tools needed to complete their project. They will also be provided with mentoring from existing First Nations Black Dog Institute staff.

 

The Scholarship includes:

  • a stipend of $50,291 (2024 indexed rate) per year for a maximum of 2 years based on satisfactory progress;
  • a Career Development Fund of $10,000 ($5,000 per annum for 2 years);
  • access to a comprehensive First Nations specific Research Training and Career Development program and;
  • access to training in First Nations specific research methodology and mentoring.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this Scholarship, you must:

  • be enrolled in the eligible UNSW degree program and be a commencing postgraduate coursework study in the Master of Public Health (Extension) and;
  • be an Indigenous Australian (Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander only).
