Hansen Yuncken Indigenous Construction and Engineering Scholarship

This scholarship supports an Indigenous Australia student studying the Bachelor of Construction Project Management or a Bachelor of Engineering degree (majoring in Civil or Civil and Environmental engineering), by providing financial assistance and the opportunity for a paid cadetship with Hansen Yuncken.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
– be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent and provide a Confirmation of Aboriginality or a UTS Statutory Declaration Form accompanied by two community references, who are not an immediate family member, confirming your identity;
– be commencing their first or second year and enrolled in one of the following: Bachelor of Construction Project Management, Bachelor of Construction Project Management, Bachelor of International Studies OR undertaking one of the following UTS Engineering degrees with a major in Civil or Civil and Environmental Engineering: Bachelor of Engineering Honours, Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Bachelor of International Studies, Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Diploma in Professional Engineering Practice or Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Bachelor of International Studies Diploma in Professional Engineering Practice and;
– for continuing students: achieved a minimum WAM of 50.

You must:
– supply a CV and;
– be able to attend an interview. 
 
Selection criteria includes:
– a passion and motivation to pursue a career in Construction or Engineering;
– initiative to seek opportunities to continually advance their professional and personal lives;
– interest in Hansen Yuncken and in a paid work placement at Hansen Yuncken and;
– alignment of values, goals and culture with those of Hansen Yuncken: including commitment to the cultural identity and heritage of the Indigenous community and drive to make positive change and opportunities for Indigenous Australians nationally. 
 
Additional consideration will be given to students who have:
– entered one of the eligible courses as a non-current school leaver;
– entered their chosen course seeking a return to education from industry, or looking for a career change or;
– extensive experience in industry.
