Phoebe Wanganeen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship
Phoebe Wanganeen was a highly respected Aboriginal Elder. Her passion for improving access to education for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people was something she championed throughout her life.”
To recognise Phoebe Wanganeen’s contribution the City of Salisbury has awarded the Phoebe Wanganeen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship since 2008.
This Scholarship supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander City of Salisbury residents enrolled in their first post secondary course to study at any university in Australia, vocational training course at any TAFE or Registered Training Organisation (RTO) in Australia.

Eligibility Criteria
“To be eligible for a Scholarship you must be:
- of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent;
- a resident of the City of Salisbury;
- able to demonstrate how the Phoebe Wanganeen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship Program will support you in attaining your educational goals/qualifications;
- and be enrolled in your first post-secondary course in either;
- an undergraduate degree at any any university in Australia or;
- vocational training course at TAFE or RTO in Australia (note: you are still eligible to apply if previously participated in a school-based apprenticeship).
How to Apply
Applicants must attach with their application:
- confirmation of enrolment
- contact details for two referees
- confirmation of Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander descent and
- evidence of being a resident of City of Salisbury
Late applications will not be considered.
