RMIT Indigenous Accommodation Scholarship

If you are moving to Melbourne from interstate or regional Victoria and can provide evidence that you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, this scholarship can provide assistance towards your accommodation in Melbourne for the duration of your program.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:
Be an Australian citizen;
Be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander;
Register with RMIT’s Ngarara Willim Centre and provide documentation confirming that you are an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander by the scholarship application due date;
Be relocating or have relocated from a rural/regional area to study in Melbourne in the last four years;
Not currently be receiving an Indigenous Accommodation Scholarship.

In addition to the above:
To be considered for the full value of the scholarship per annum, you must demonstrate financial disadvantage in your scholarship application such as showing documentation that you receive a Government tested low income benefit or have a Centrelink Health Care Card;
You must not be enrolling in an apprenticeship or traineeship program.”

“Applications can be submitted direct to RMIT or through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) however, it is preferred that you apply direct to RMIT for this scholarship.

If you are applying as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person you are required to establish eligibility for this scholarship by providing supporting documentation confirming that you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. Submit your documentation direct to RMIT’s Ngarara Willim Centre Centre via ngarara@rmit.edu.au by the application close date. “This scholarship is paid as a stipend (in fortnightly payments) and not as a lump sum.
