The School of Medicine Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Accommodation Scholarship aims to support Indigenous students undertaking the Doctor of Medicine (MD), who come from one or more of the University’s defined equity or personal disadvantage groups, with the costs associated with accommodation.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
Be an identified Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander;
Be commencing or enrolled full time in the MD;
Be able to demonstrate financial or other hardship, based on Opportunity and Equity Criteria.
How to Apply
Successful applicants will come from one or more of the University’s defined equity or personal disadvantage groups, including people from rural and isolated areas, people experiencing financial hardship, people with a disability or long-term medical condition, and people experiencing long-term family difficulties. Students who are the first in their family to attend university will also be considered. For further information please refer to the Opportunity and Equity Criteria.
The application form includes an equity statement section – you must ensure that you complete this section which requires you to demonstrate how your financial or other hardships have impacted on your education and how you would benefit from this scholarship.
Further Information
Selection of this scholarship will be determined on the basis of academic achievement, equity circumstances and interview performance. If you are shortlisted you will be required to attend an interview and must ensure your availability to do so. The interview panel will consist of three staff members of the University and a member of the Aboriginal Community. The panel will take into consideration that all people have different needs and experience disadvantages that impact on their educational progress.
