The University of Sydney Indigenous Bursaries

The University of Sydney Indigenous Bursaries are designed to support Indigenous students pay for the cost of textbooks, uniforms, excursions. There are several opportunities:

Bernard Lee Scholarship for Aboriginal Students for students younger than 35 years. Value: up to $5000.
Chancellor’s Committee Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students Bursary for an undergraduate or undergraduate diploma student. Value: up to $2000.
Poppy Harris Bursary for an undergraduate or postgraduate student. Value: up to $1000.
Robert Floyd Marshall and Esen Marshall Memorial Scholarship for an undergraduate or postgraduate student. Value: up to $3000.

Eligibility Criteria

You are eligible to apply if you are:
Studying full time;
An Australian citizen or permanent resident;
Currently residing in Australia;
Making satisfactory academic progress;
Experiencing financial difficulty.
Able to provide documents as outlined in the Confirmation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Identity Policy 2015.

How to Apply

You need to supply the following documents when you apply through Sydney Student:
 
Bank account statement with transaction history of your everyday account, for the past 30 days (needs to include the official header of your institution ie bank name, logo, your full name and account number);
bank account statements for all savings accounts;
proof of Centrelink (if relevant);
any additional supporting documents required.
 
You do not need to supply your academic transcript.

Further Information

Indigenous Bursaries are automatically applied annually by the University of Sydney.

To continue receipt of the Scholarship, the recipient must maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 65 each semester.
