ECU Vice Chancellor's Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Scholarship

The ECU Vice Chancellor’s Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Scholarship was established to provide financial support for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Australians. The scholarship funds are payable each semester, until the completion of a Bachelor’s degree at ECU. Applicants are asked to demonstrate leadership and contribution within the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community, and/or university community.The scholarship offers $2,500 per semester (pro rata for part time study) for up to 7 semesters.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander;
have completed a minimum of 60 credit points towards your Bachelor’s degree at the time of application;
be enrolled in a minimum of 30 credit points per semester;
demonstrate community and/or university leadership and contribution;
be able to demonstrate successful achievement in prior studies; and
have and maintain an academic progression status of GREEN;

and not be in receipt of another scholarship over $5000.

Application is made via the ECU Online Scholarship Application Portal. Access to the Portal is available between application opening and closing dates.

Applicants will be required to provide a personal statement in response to the following:

– in 300-500 words, please explain what Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Leadership means to you,
– in 300-500 words, how do you demonstrate leadership and positively contribute to your community, either within ECU or more broadly? Please name the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community from which you descend or are accepted as a member?
– if you are successful in receiving this scholarship, how will this assist you in reaching your full potential as a student at ECU?
