Ella Schroder Indigenous Residential Scholarship

Mr Schroder, studied at Armidale Teachers’ College and gained BA (Honours) and MA degrees from UNE by distance education. His interest in Indigenous students began in the 1960s when he was teaching Aboriginal students in Armidale. He has also spent time in Indigenous communities in the Northern Territory.

The Ella Schroder Scholarship is specifically for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who have completed their secondary education as a boarding student at a boarding school.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be:
Australian Citizen/Permanent Resident;
Open to applicants who are completing Year 12 and gap year/s students who are commencing university study for the first time;
Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander;
Be able to demonstrate financial need;
Be from Regional/Remote area;
The applicant completed their secondary education whilst living in a boarding school;
Living in college;
The applicant is living or intending to live in a UNE Residential College (excludes St Alberts College).
