Ashley

My internship began after I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Relations. I was based in the State Library of Western Australia, in the Aboriginal History Unit and during my internship I was tasked with a major research project. Through this research I learnt immense amounts, from State and Federal Aboriginal Heritage Legislation, to the ways media and government perspectives on Aboriginal peoples and issues changed over time, to gaining a deep understanding and knowledge on the Juukan Gorge disaster. My experience as an intern enabled me to take the first step into the Indigenous sector and has further motivated me to continue on this path.
