Interning at NAAJA was an eye-opening experience into the Aboriginal justice space. I was privileged to have the chance to observe how law works in action (as opposed to theoretical understandings of law depicted in law school), and how it often leads to unsatisfactory outcomes. The people at NAAJA were extremely generous with their time and support, and this provided an invaluable opportunity to have meaningful conversations and deepen my knowledge of the complexities of local issues. Overall, the internship experience was incredible, and I would highly recommend the Aurora Program to my friends and younger students.
