“My internship at the Poche Centre for Indigenous Health was a valuable and eye-opening experience. As a proud Carigal and Cammeraigal Aboriginal man, I saw how research can strengthen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health when it respects culture and community voices. I gained skills in data collection, community engagement, and ethical research while learning from inspiring mentors. The placement helped me connect my experience as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner with research, giving me a clearer direction for my career and reinforcing my commitment to making a positive impact in First Nations health”.
