One of the most rewarding aspects of my placement was experiencing a more practical side of what I’m currently studying. Studying Conservation Biology and Indigenous, History & Heritage, I really valued working with the Nyangumarta Rangers conducting projects within their IPA schedule. Working with Cultural Advisors and the rangers really gave me valuable insight into the inner-workings of Ranger work and their important role in conserving Country and practicing culture today. Collaborating with the Dept. of Parks & Wildlife and other scientific stakeholders whilst on-country at Anna Plains Station and 80 Mile Beach doing multiple tasks like turtle monitoring and escorting people on country were also a real highlights whilst undertaking my internship.
