I cannot speak highly enough about the Aurora Internship Program. It has given me such a wonderful and ever- lasting experience. Having the opportunity to experience first hand a native title barrister such as Tina is an absolute gift. Her mentorship for young woman and mothers is outstanding. I felt so privileged to be involved in such large and land-mark case base claims in Native Title. I could not believe that the cases I have read about in text books, I was actually working with the people that made those cases happen. I learnt so much about submissions, applications, strike outs, the Native Title Act, cultural and heritage legislations and how the two are so inter twined. Practically the internship helped my legal writing and research skills develop in so much in such a short amount of time. It also gave me invaluable experience about working in the professional setting. I wish the internship could have lasted longer and I had more of an opportunity to have more face-to-face experience. If I have the opportunity again, I would apply for another placement in a heart beat.
