I’m still pinching myself, as my internship with DJAARA was more extraordinary than I could have hoped. I was part of the policy team, but instead of helping to research or write policy, I proposed a policy communication project, in which I interviewed people across the different arms of the corporation to compose 2 podcasts about the effects of climate change on cultural heritage/cultural Landscapes. I also participated with member engagement, and spent several days on country with the team for discussions about incorporating djaara values into forest management. It was a humbling, fascinating, and deeply moving months.
