Indigenous Mentors

We are the only Indigenous education program where 100% of the mentors working with students are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.

What do our mentors do?

Our mentors are trained across a range of key professional, interpersonal and facilitation skills. They are supported to build skills to share their ‘story’ and draw on their knowledge of culture and community. Our mentors support the students during the academic enrichment camps and build a core network of Indigenous role models across Australia.

“I grew up in a single parent household in a housing commission. Opportunities in higher. education never crossed my mind. I was planning on getting a trade, but what turned me around was a high school teacher who expressed that I had the qualities of a teacher. I tested myself by coaching footy at my local club and did mentoring at school and loved it.”

“I am so thankful for all the amazing mentors and Elders who always encouraged my academic aspirations and helped me to establish strong values that I continue to appreciate and have appreciated during university.
